How the 6-Day Course Is Structured

Training for the VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation qualification blends in-class theory, live practical sessions, self-led case study work, tutor guidance, and official VTCT exams.

Most students complete the full qualification within 6–8 weeks, though this can vary depending on how quickly you finish your self-study, coursework, and case studies.

Day 1: Theory & Kit Handover

You’ll start with a classroom-based theory day. Your professional kit and materials will be handed over, and your tutor will walk you through the core knowledge needed to carry out safe, professional micropigmentation treatments.

You’ll cover: health & safety, consultations, contraindications, skin structure, colour theory, choosing pigments, brow mapping, setting up equipment, and safely operating your PMU machine.

Day 2: Hands-On Brow Practice

This day is all about practice. You’ll put Day 1’s theory into action, treating live models under close tutor supervision across both morning and afternoon sessions.

Building Your Case Study Portfolio

Following your practical days, you’ll independently build a portfolio covering at least 4 case studies. This should showcase your hands-on ability, how you plan treatments, client consultations, before/after outcomes, and your grasp of safe practice.

You’ll keep your kit so you can complete these case studies in your own time, outside the classroom.

Day 3: Assessment & Tutor Check-In

You’ll return to college for a support and assessment session, where your tutor will:

• Go through your workbooks and portfolio
• Clear up any theory you’re unsure of
• Help refine any practical skills that need work
• Carry out an internal practical assessment

You may need to make some corrections or add extra evidence before moving on to your official VTCT assessment.

Days 4–5: VTCT Practical Exams

These two days are your formal VTCT practical assessments, held across morning and afternoon sessions, where you’ll demonstrate the professional skills and standards required for certification.

Before these days, you’ll need to have:

• Finished all course workbooks
• Submitted your case studies with evidence
• Had your portfolio checked and approved
• Completed any tutor-requested corrections

Day 6: Final Written Exam

Your last day covers a final multiple-choice exam, testing your theoretical knowledge across health & safety, treatment procedures, client care, and professional practice.

Getting Certified

Once you’ve completed all classroom sessions, practical work, case studies, workbooks, and VTCT assessments, you’ll qualify for your VTCT Level 4 in Micropigmentation — typically within 6–8 weeks, depending on your own pace.
